Each year, the WSRAA takes great pride in hosting the Roy McPhee Memorial Futurity, a show designed to incentivize junior members to invest in their own animals and bring them back to the Western National Red Angus Show the following year. This initiative not only supports our junior members but also encourages young breeders to join the association as they establish their herds with the Red Angus breed.

To qualify for the Roy McPhee Memorial Futurity, the animal must be purchased in the junior member's name at the Bet on Red sale, an event that owes its existence to the integral role played by Roy McPhee and many others. Sadly, Roy passed away during the inaugural year of the futurity. In honor of his significant contributions to the junior members, the sale, and the association as a whole, the futurity was named after him.
